Inspector v0.38.0 delivers major performance improvements, smarter learning behavior, and deeper visibility. We’ve optimized CPU usage, added safeguards against memory pressure, and introduced better learning for user-specific paths. New metrics and status code logging give teams clearer insights into production activity.

We’ve also rolled out quality-of-life upgrades across the platform:

  • Batch rule actions make it easier to manage security rules at scale.
  • New bot protection tags offer more transparency into automated traffic decisions.
  • Organized rule categories help you find what you need, faster.
  • A redesigned labels page streamlines entity management.
  • Simplified profile navigation makes key settings easier to find and manage.

These updates reduce noise, save time, and give security teams better tools to protect what matters most.

🔍 Inspector Update - Version 0.38.0: Improved Performance and New Learning Capabilities

We’ve released a new version of the Impart Inspector with performance improvements, smarter learning behavior, and expanded observability. Here’s what’s new:

Performance Improvements

  • Optimized CPU utilization for string set operations (add/merge), making Inspector more efficient under load.
  • Introduced rate limiting for workers during startup to prevent memory pressure and out-of-memory (OOM) issues.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with schema learning where names containing invalid characters (e.g., commas) caused errors.

New Features

  • Added sampleRuleID to the dumped output for easier rule tracking and debugging.
  • Included status_code in both blocked and sampled request logs to provide clearer insights.
  • Learning specifications now support email-parametrized endpoints, allowing for more precise learning in user-identified paths.
  • New metrics added for WebAssembly (WASM) errors to help with visibility and troubleshooting.

This release makes Inspector leaner, smarter, and more transparent—reducing noise, improving precision, and giving your team better tools to understand what’s happening in production.

🛡️ More Context on Bot Protection Decisions

We've added new tags to bot protection that provide context on why a request was flagged. Whether it's due to suspicious sources or known attack tooling, users now get clearer insight into suspected bad bot behavior.

Why it matters: More transparency helps security engineers make faster, more informed decisions when managing automated traffic threats.

‍

📊 Enhanced Request Analysis with Status Codes

Status codes are now recorded for sampled requests. With the latest inspector release, you can filter and analyze requests by their status codes.

Why it matters: This added visibility helps security engineers identify attack patterns, such as enumeration attempts, and better understand request outcomes.

⚒️ Batch Rule Actions: Easier, Faster Rule Management

Managing security rules just got a whole lot easier. With our new batch rule actions, you can now apply changes to multiple rules at once—saving time and reducing repetitive work.

Instead of modifying each rule individually, you can now:

  • Enable or disable multiple rules in one click
  • Quickly apply simulate or blocking mode across selected rules
  • Apply labels across multiple rules at once

Whether you're triaging alerts or refining your detection logic, batch actions help you move faster and stay in control—especially at scale.

‍

📚 Find Rules Faster with Organized Categories

Our rules library is now categorized into WAF, Bot Protection, API Posture, and Logging. Example rules are grouped accordingly to help you find what you need faster.

Why it matters: With quicker access to relevant rules, security engineers can implement protections more efficiently and effectively.

‍

🏷️ Cleaner Entity Management

The labels page has been redesigned to remove redundant information and improve overall usability. We've eliminated duplicate label columns to create a cleaner, more focused interface.

Why it matters: Security engineers get a more streamlined view of resource labeling, making it easier to track, manage, and analyze assets.

‍

👤 Simplified Navigation

We've revamped the profile menu with a more intuitive layout and consolidated links. This refresh makes essential settings easier to find and manage.

Why it matters: A better user experience for everyone—especially security engineers juggling multiple tools.

These updates reduce friction in everyday workflows, letting security teams focus on what matters most: protecting their applications and data.
